Their coats are typically pale grey to sandy, with lighter underparts and a subtle sheen in sunlight. Adults show the characteristic long limbs and tail that give them an elegant, almost balletic silhouette as they move among branches; the tail is often held in a gentle curve and can be longer than the body, helping with balance. Faces are dark and expressive, framed by a lighter halo of fur that makes their features stand out against the foliage. Their faces are hairless and usually slate to black in color, with forward-facing eyes that convey alertness and curiosity.
